The Gavel SE features our new surface enhanced quartz bottom. The surface is engineered to greatly improve the efficiency of the oil evaporation process by increasing surface free energy, reducing liquid surface tension, promoting nucleate boiling, and rapidly increasing evaporation rates. The improvements have been designed to be both extremely durable and easy to clean. While we recommend isopropyl alcohol for cleaning all nails, maintenance can be done with dry cotton swabs. This is different from the opaque surface, which requires maintenance with isopropyl alcohol to avoid black carbon stains. The bottom is engraved and this engraving will be visible through the top of the bucket when the surface is wet. When the bottom is dry, the engraving is again hidden by the opacity of refracted light.
